Meet challenger Jérôme: “I want to build a team like a second family”

Get to know our constructive challenger Jérôme Patigny, who as versatile Technical Director at edibosud engages his widespread experience daily to support his teams.

At edibo, keeping an eye on everything and everyone is vital. This is perfectly embodied by our challenger Jérôme Patigny who as versatile Technical Director at edibosud engages his widespread experience daily to support his teams. His most important goal is to create a united group that feels like a second family.

Focus on the big picture

Within his current role as Technical Director, Jérôme is in charge of supervising the project and the site management teams. At the same time, he acts as a backup for colleagues and he regularly visits construction sites to offer maximum support with his experience and broad vision.

“No one day is the same. If you ask me to summarise what I do, then I would say that the first phase is project preparation, composing the perfect team for the project and scheduling deadlines.”

“Furthermore, I supervise the implementation, I support the team on-site and listen to their questions or uncertainties. Lastly, I am responsible for the final evaluation of the project. I take a look at everyone’s performance, check the final budgetary balance and suggest improvement areas. It is a versatile function that requires lots of precision and support on a daily basis.”

From civil construction engineer to constructive challenger

Jérôme is trained as a construction engineer and was employed as Project Manager at edibosud, which was still a small SME back then in Wavre.

“I heard the parent company was located in Lommel with about one hundred employees. At that time, I really wanted to work at a small organisation where there were still lots of options to grow and develop.”

“As soon as I arrived at edibosud, I knew I wasn’t just going to be a ‘number’. Working in a familial environment, where people know each other and call each other by their first names, is what really makes the difference for me and what truly motivates me!”

Beautiful memories

Jérôme has been working at edibosud for more than ten years now. After a first period as Project Manager, Jérôme grew to become an in-house Stability Engineer. As Project Manager, he mainly remembers the project in Erpent for window and door frames manufacturer Fermalux.

“This project, with a pretty complex design and a highly technical and unique structure – as if it were architect Calatrava’s work – was a major challenge. It was almost like doing a puzzle but none of the pieces are traditionally shaped. This design was so complex that I stayed on site for about a week in order to keep the pace up and limit the impact on the budget.”

“As Stability Engineer, what impressed me the most was the FILAO plant in Couillet, known for recycling PET bottles. This was also my largest stability engineering project, where I was assisted by four engineering colleagues from Lommel. Each of them helped me out, which was truly motivational for me.”

“Today, I am most interested in projects that trigger our talents. I always try to ensure that our teams are able to synergise as well as possible. This is only imaginable in a corporate culture that pushes transparency, just like ours here at edibo(sud).”

Heading for a team that’s even more united

Jérôme’s most important goal is to develop his team and to continuously improve processes in order for edibo to work even faster and better, and all that in a healthy and pleasant atmosphere. “I want the team to grow as much as possible and to bring them closer together. The goal is to build a close-knit team that feels like a second family.”

Family first and back to sports

After work, Jérôme likes to spend time with his family in nature and although he really enjoys his current challenge, he would like to take up sports again.

“It is high time to get into my running shoes again. My three brothers are all marathon runners and since I’ve always been the fastest one, it is time to get back to it because they are starting to catch up (laughs).”
